Introducing 2014 Prospect Peyton Allen

Although some recruitments in the 2014 class have taken off, like that of Devin Booker, Keita Bates-Diop, and Trevon Bluiett, there have been others that have been more quiet.  One of those has been Peyton Allen.  A good amount of schools are currently looking at Allen, but he hasn't received many offers and the only one he's received from a Big Ten school has been Iowa.  Similarly, he hasn't appeared on many fan's radar until very recently.  Despite this, his recruitment with Michigan is beginning to take shape.  There is no doubt that he won't be the most hyped recruit or prospect in Michigan's 2014 recruiting class, but he could still be a solid pick-up for a team that seems to take in a few "underperformers" every year.

Like most of Beilein's recruits, Allen is called a "great" shooter and has a good basketball IQ.  Along with this, he describes his best attributes as "distributing, getting into the lane, and passing".  For a point guard, those would seem required skills, but the major thing that seems to separate Allen from other players is his impressive knowledge and feel for the game.  These accompanied with his impressive size (6'5" as a freshman in high school) and improving defense should make him a good player in the 2014 class.  The one area that could probably use some work is his rebounding, but as a point guard, that's probably to be expected.  If he can improve this, get a little stronger, and possibly even grow a little more, his rankings will probably sky rocket.
