Of
course, where there is good, there is not so good. There was a little bit of
that, too against Northwestern. Good thing I'm here to recap it all.
Let's
start with the positives. And the good news here: only one player worthy of
being labeled as an under performer.
Top Performers
1.
Roy Roundtree - WR
Roy
Roundtree just knows when to step up for his team. Devin Gardner stepped into a
giant role for the Wolverines in a must win situation, and Roundtree was able
to make his job much easier by being a reliable target.
Roundtree
caught 5 passes for 139 yards and displayed a little bit of everything we had
been waiting on. The speed was there, the hands, the reliability. It was the
Roundtree we had been expecting all season, and I think he uses this big
performance to propel himself into a strong finish of the season.
2. Devin Gardner - QB
Devin
Gardner has taken a shaky situation and turned into something beautiful: wins.
As the backup QB, all that was asked of his was to keep Michigan in a position
to win, and that's exactly what he's done.
Gardner
completed 16/29 passes for 286 yards and 2 TDs. Once again, he showed great
composure and incredible instinct on the field.
On top of
the air game, he contributed with 47 yards and another 2 TDs on the ground.
Basically, he displays a pro-style passing attack while being able to beat you
on the ground also.
Under Performers
1.
Thomas Rawls - RB
Thomas
Rawls really hasn't given Al Borges a reason to play him lately, this following
a stretch of time where a lot of fans thought he was the better back not
receiving any playing time.
But Rawls
only had three carry on Saturday for a grand total of one yard. It's obviously
near impossible to judge a performance based off of one attempt, but the same
heart and power we were witnessing earlier is not there anymore.
Luckily,
Fitz Toussaint has been stepping up.
