2014 Recruit Trevon Bluiett Visiting Michigan Today

Michigan's 2014 basketball recruiting is starting to pick-up.  After offering Devin Booker and Keita Bates-Diop on June 15th, Michigan's Offer Day, they now have another high profile 2014 recruit on campus.  Trevon Bluiett is a small forward from Indianapolis, Indiana and is rated as either a 3* or a 4* by the major recruiting services.  He isn't Michigan's top priority for 2014, but he could be very important to finishing out this class.

He's received offers from many top programs around the country, including Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Notre Dame, and Louisville.  So even though his ratings may not be "off the chart", they are certainly good enough to get him in with the top programs around the country.  Michigan hasn't offered him yet, but I think they will offer him in the future, which makes today's visit even more important.

There are reports that he'll be on campus today, which merits the question about a scholarship offer.  I have my doubts about whether he will get the offer today, but I definitely think it's a solid possibility.  Beilein has been slow to offer many kids, which makes me believe he might wait a little longer with Bluiett.  Not slow in the sense that he falls behind other schools, but slow in the sense that he only seems to offer players that he feels very confident about getting a commitment.

So where does that leave us today?  Well, Bluiett has indicated that he will be taking his time in the recruiting process.  From his comments, I don't think we're talking about him waiting until Signing Day in 2014, but I don't think a commitment will come in the next few months either.  He and his family did hint that they are looking to start narrowing down schools in the future, but that could still leave a long recruitment process, especially since he still seems interested in visiting schools like Michigan, that haven't offered him.

UMHoops has listed his interest as "medium-high", which is a good sign for Wolverine fans.  He obviously has to be pretty interested in Michigan if he's still visiting even though he hasn't received an offer.  I think this is a great sign for the future.  I don't think he will commit anytime soon, whether to Michigan or somewhere else, but if Michigan offers him in the near future, maybe even today, that could really chance things up because of his interest in the Wolverines.  I won't say we're the clear leader for him, since he seems to be very interested in Indiana as well, but we're definitely in good position.  It should be a long recruiting battle between some big programs for Bluiett, but his visit today could be a sign of things to come, especially if he gets an offer.  Stay tuned as I'll update if there's anymore developments.
